It looks like the answer to the problem I had with TFS shaving cream—lather dying quickly—goes away if you use (say) the Omega Pro 48 (model 10048) boar brush: an Italian brush for an Italian shaving cream. It makes sense. I wonder whether the (Italian) shaving cream is in fact sort of “tuned” to boar brushes, which are the rule in Italy.
At any rate, I had no problems getting plenty of lather for three passes, and my Pro 48 is well along in its break-in: a most pleasant brush.
The bakelite slant with an Astra Keramik Platinum blade provided its customary shave: extraordinarily comfortable and also highly efficient. The result, enjoyably achieved, is BBS. I inspected the head closely this morning, trying to figure out why this razor is so much more comfortable than my other slants (and most of my straight-bar razors). The configuration of the guards may contribute.
A good splash of Floïd aftershave, the menthol appreciated on a warm morning.
