Musgo Real seems to like unusual fragrances for their shaving cream, but so far they work very well. I tried the Orange Amber and liked it, and Basil Lime shown in the photo made a fine lather with an appealing fragrance. I used my Wet Shaving Products Monarch HMW, a very fine brush, and took my time with the lather.
I’m using two razors today because on Wicked_Edge a guy commented that he found the RazoRock open comb (which in my case holds an Astra Keramik blade) to shave more easily than his Merkur 37C slant. I have the 37G—the identical razor save that it’s plated in gold (G) instead of chrome (C)—and this one has a Gillette 7 O’Clock SharpEdge blade.
The first pass I divided between the two, the second pass was the open-comb and the final pass was the slant. BBS result. The open-comb is indeed a very nice razor. I was finding some of the RazoRock razors a bit harsh, but not this one, not today. Perhaps I’m simply getting more accustomed to the razor (finding the best angle for it, for example), but I actively enjoyed shaving with it today. So I’m going to have to run through the RazoRocks again.
Although I had no problems with the open-comb, I have to say that for me the slant cut more easily and with less resistance. Still, you could get an excellent shave with either, assuming good prep, sound technique, and the like.
A splash of Vitos Lavanada aftershave, and I’m now scurrying around getting ready for the cleaning ladies.
