I’m getting to have the same attitude toward my good slants as I did toward my fountain pens: the one I’m using at the time is my favorite. They are all so good that I would hate to choose.
First, a very nice lather with the Plisson synthetic from l’Occitane and Dr. Selby’s 3x Concentrated Shaving cream—though in fact with Dr. Selby’s it seemed to me this morning that I get a better lather with a badger brush. I’ll have to try it again soon, using a badger brush.
The the iKon DLC Slant with a Personna Lab Blue blade. As it turns out, no nicks because I focused on using very light pressure. (Duh—I say that slants require light pressure, but in using this one I had become careless and allowed the full weight of the razor to come into play. It’s a heavy razor, and its full weight in too much pressure. When I actually focused on lightening the pressure, the XTG nick on the upper lip that used to happen is now gone—and good riddance.)
The final result was amazingly BBS: total smooth softness. I applied a good splash of Floïd aftershave, and this morning I detected a note of a warmth—cinnamon?—in the fragrance. I do wish I had a keener nose.
Good start to the month.
