Excellent shave today. The brush shone was sold a while back as the “Bombito,” by Bullgoose Shaving. It was $15, and it’s a superb brush. I would swear that it’s horsehair, but Phil at Bullgoose told me that Vie-Long says it’s boar. Whatever it is, it’s a very nice brush indeed, and I do like that style of handle.
Mystic Water’s Sensitive Skin soap came up in discussion on Wicked Edge. One subscriber mentioned that he has sensitive skin and that he’s found coconut oil soaps are drying, something others have found as well. I recommended he take a look at this soap, and mentioning brought it to mind, so I brought it out this morning. It’s a very nice soap indeed, quite apart from any sensitive skin issues. Though no fragrance is added, it has a natural fragrance from the ingredients:
That fragrance is quite pleasant, and it makes a terrific lather. I do add a little driblet of water as I load the brush, and the resulting lather is rich and creamy.
Three passes with the white bakelite slant, still wonderful—though I did get two small nicks, a sign I should change the blade. My Nik Is Sealed is my standby for such things, and it works extremely well and quickly.
A splash of l’Occitane Verbena, and I’m good to go.
Tomorrow I’ll use the Omega Pro 48—testing it because of a WE mention that it splatters lather everywhere, something I totally do not recall—and try a shave using both Progress and Valiant.
